The Veluwe

Harderwijk

A city with atmospheric buildings, lively terraces and Michelin-starred restaurants. Surrounded by the extensive Veluwe National Park and Randmeren, Harderwijk is a combination of a bustling city centre with plenty of peace and quiet outside. Harderwijk is the ultimate destination for water sports fans. Among other things, visitors can enjoy sailing, surfing and kitesurfing. Anyone who is looking for top-level dining will head to the Vischmarkt, but no less than two restaurants have been awarded a Michelin star.

Kröller Müller Museum

There are several inspiring museums in the surrounding area. The Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo is a good choice for a cultural excursion. The museum is known for its extensive Vincent van Gogh collections. Many other works can also be admired here, by artists such as Picasso and Piet Mondriaan.

Dolfinarium

In the nearby city of Harderwijk, you will find the marine mammal park Dolfinarium. A day at Dolfinarium Harderwijk guarantees an experience which is full of discoveries. The Dolfinarium offers a huge range of marine mammals and is the largest park of its kind in Europe! During a visit to the Dolfinarium, you will encounter dolphins, walruses, sea lions and sharks.

 

Paleis Het Loo

Would you like to go on a cultural excursion? Don't miss Het Loo Palace, which is over 300 years old and simply exudes atmosphere and character. Admire the furnished rooms which paint a picture of the centuries of habitation by the House of Orange. The gardens, with their fountains and flowerbeds, are also a real treat for the eye. Het Loo Palace also features a wide variety of inspiring collections.

Apenheul

Enjoy a wonderful day out in the Apenheul Primate Park with your children. In the beautiful wooded surroundings, you will find yourselves wandering among the monkeys. And just like the monkeys, your children can also swing and climb in the park to their heart’s content.

Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe

The Hoge Veluwe National Park is the largest continuous and actively managed nature reserve in the Netherlands, covering an area of no less than 54 km². Relax in this wonderful environment and enjoy the colourful forests, vast meadows and idyllic sand drifts. As well as the varied scenery, you will find many different species of flora and fauna here.

Walks with forest rangers

Why not explore the splendid scenery of the Veluwe with a forest ranger? At 3.30 pm every Saturday, the forest ranger will be delighted to accompany you into the woods surrounding the hotel. He will tell you all about the origin of the forest, unusual trees and the animals which live there. The walk lasts around 1.5 hours and is for a fee (€ 7.50 p.p.). This activity requires a minimum number of participants.

Climbing and scrambling

At the recreational park Klimbos Garderen, you can follow the climbing trail which offers all kinds of obstacles and different components. Klimbos Garderen is centrally located, deep in the woods of the Veluwe. An active day at the heart of nature is therefore guaranteed. The Klimbos is highly suitable for the whole family, as a company outing or for a visit with your partner.
