The Magic Flute

Semperoper regularly has performances of the most famous and frequently performed operas in Mozart’s repertoire. This particular piece is about drama, love and hate. The story is set in Egypt, where an evil wizard has captured the queen’s daughter, Pamina. The queen has asked Tamino to save Pamina. Head-over-heels with the girl – who he has only seen on a portrait –, Tamino sets off. It is a fairy tale about the triumph of a forbidden love that wasn't allowed to blossom...

La Bohème

La Bohème is performed in Italian with German and English supertitles. Four poor Bohemian friends lead miserable lives until one of them receives a large sum of money, and the group goes to town to celebrate. One of them, Rodolfo, stays behind, and gets to know one of his neighbours, Mimi, with whom he falls in love. Sadly, it turns out that Mimi is ill. The two become estranged and then find each other again. But by then it is too late...
